OVERVIEW OF PROGRAMME
Information Technology is the study and design of computer systems, mainly focused on software. The computer industry has experienced unprecedented growth and improvements in efficiency, a trend which widens the scope for information technology graduates in the long term.
Almost every significant sector of the economy uses computers in some form, and potential for new development is often more a question of imagination than limitations in technology.

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME
The programme is designed to enable successful graduates to able to:
- The Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BIT) is a four-year program emphasizing the practical application and management of information technology. It uses a hands-on, reality-based teaching approach, enabling students to apply classroom knowledge to solve real-world problems.
- The project-focused Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BIT) program trains students in computer systems and their applications. It emphasizes data processing, problem-solving, programming languages, algorithms, and information structures, with practical applications in both the marketplace and research.
- Majors in the program include computer systems and networks, information environments, interaction design, scientific computing, software design and software information systems

AIMS OF THE PROGRAMME
The course aims to equip graduates with the skills and attributes needed for professional practice and leadership. It is based on the themes of personal and academic development and professional formation.
It provides sound foundations in IT, technical expertise and knowledge of professional practice, while developing academic literacy, advocacy skills and social awareness. -
PROGRAMME REQUIREMENTS
WASSCE/SSSCE Applicants:
Credits in three (3) SSSCE /WASSCE Core Subjects: (Mathematics, English Language and Integrated Science) plus three (3) credits in the following Elective Subjects: Elective Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry/Applied Electricity/Electronics/Technical Drawing with an aggregate score of 24 or 36 respectively.
‘A’ LEVEL APPLICANTS:
Applicants should be Science students with Five (5) Credits at ‘O’ Level including Mathematics and English Language. They should also have (two) 2 passes at ‘A’ Level in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
INTERNATIONAL BACCALAURETTE
Applicants must have science background (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, etc.) They must obtain a distinction, credit or pass as decided by the jury. They should also be proficient in English. This is checked through written exams, verbal interview and certification from a recognized language institution.
AMERICAN GRADE 12
Holders must have science background. They should have good grades in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry etc. This must be evaluated by National Accreditation Board(NAB).
CITY & GUILDS
Holders must have Technician Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Microcomputer Technology or in any relevant IT Programs from a recognized institution.
HND FROM UNIVERSITY/HIGHER INSTITUTION
Holders of Higher National Diploma (HND) in Information Technology or any IT related program from a recognized University or Tertiary Institution with 1st Class, 2nd Upper or 2nd Lower grades. They must also have a two-year post HND working experience
‘O’/A ‘Level Applicants
Holders must have five (5) credits at ‘O’ Level including English, Mathematics, plus THREE (3) ‘A’ Level passes in any subject;
They must also have a pass in General Paper.MATURE Applicants:
Applicants must be 25 years at the time of submitting the application. Must have either Five credits at the “O” Level including Mathematics, English Language, Physics and Chemistry OR WASSCE/SSSCE credits in three (3) Core Subjects (Mathematics, English Language and Integrated Science), plus credits in three (3) Elective Subjects (Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry).
Foreign Applicants
All foreign qualifications will be referred to the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) for determination of equivalences and eligibility for admission.
